I had a quick say in Austin, TX recently and figured I would
share some of the highlights if you ever decided to take a trip there or if you
are currently residing and want to check some other spots out. So one of the
stand out restaurants was “la V”. It honestly reminded me of a few San
Francisco restaurants that I frequent. First, I went during Sunday brunch. The
food was great, but the service was wonderful. Seriously, I had the cutest
waiter and most of the staff appeared to be very ice looking indeed. laV offers a rustic yet
refined cuisine in a welcoming and beautiful setting. Dishes emphasize the
ingredients of the season and are at once simple and soulful. The world class
wine list provides a rich array of options to compliment the ever-changing menu.We
ordered the following (which I would most definitely recommend):
Starter:
kouign-amann, apple thyme jam & cultured jam
cheese plate, seasonal selection with accoutrements
bibb salad, green goddess dressing, garden radishes, pickled
spring onions
Main Entrees:
farm egg frittata, asparagus, melted leeks, ricotta, roasted
mushrooms
buckwheat crepes, scrambled eggs, smoked trout, hollandaise
Drinks:
House-Made Bellini Prosecco, Fresh Peach Purée (perfect)
Breakfast Martini Vodka, Cointreau, Orange Marmalade (on the
strong side for me)
They also had a wonderful Jazz Troupe that played a relaxing
and familiar set. From what I understand, this may be on the pricier side for
Austin, but well worth the experience.
